Welcome to 5th Grade!
Welcome! I am Mrs. Pence, the 4th and 5th grade general education reading teacher! I can already tell this is going to be a fantastic year in 4th and 5th grade! We have a great group of learners this year already!
A little history about me is that I graduated from Cleburne High School in 2007. I then attended the University of North Texas (GO MEAN GREEN!) where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. I am proud to say this is my 7th year teaching at Santa Fe Elementary. I spent the first 4 years teaching math in 5th grade and the last 2 teaching reading to my 5th graders.
My goal for my students this year is to help them find a love for reading. I have a passion for teaching students that reading can spark the imagination and drive us to be better people as we grow and learn. As a teacher I work hard to give my students the best education by making connections between what we are reading to the real world around us. I believe this is how I can best prepare them to become leaders of tomorrow. I also love teaching children to have confidence in themselves. Confidence is the number one secret to success! A person with the confidence to keep trying, even in the face of failure, will always find a way to accomplish what matters most to them.
My goal for myself this year is to be more active in letting parents know what's going on in my classroom. In an effort to do this better, I have created a facebook group titled SFE Mrs. Pence's Class. If you are a parent or guardian, I would love for you to request to join my group. This is a place where I will do my best to post what is going on in the classroom and answer group questions that will help you. Another great way to contact me is through my email, Email is probably the best way to get my attention since I check it frequently throughout the day. Last, there's also Class Dojo and a phone call to the office. Regardless, I am open to questions and am ready to help you to the best of my abilities! I can't fix what I don't know about! My conference is from 8:15-9:15 Monday- Thursday if you are hoping to speak directly to me.
I look forward to seeing and hearing from you! Here's to a fantastic year!

Please take the time to view my schedule attached to this page!
